The Idaho Heritage Trust provides technical assistance to those interested in preserving historic properties, sites and artifacts in Idaho. The initial assistance is provided at no cost to the potential applicant. To request help please call the Trust offices.

Our primary provider of technical assistance for historic properties is Frederick Walters. Mr. Walters was educated at the University of New Mexico and the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York, York, England. Post Graduate Diploma: Conservation of Historic Buildings. He is a registered architect in Idaho, Nevada and Oregon.

Diana Hobart Dicus, Conservator, has provided materials conservation advice to Idaho Heritage Trust grantees. Ms. Dicus has her bachelor's degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Masters of Science in Textiles and Clothing from the University of Wisconsin, Museum Studies Certificate from the Department of Anthropology, University of Wisconsin and a Conservation Certificate with distinction from University College, University of London, London, England.

Mike Katsilometes is owner of Portneuf Valley Masonry in Pocatello, Idaho. He has thirty years experience in refractory, brick, block, stone and re-pointing masonry. The Trust often asks Mr. Katsilometes to look at historic masonry projects.

Mary Reed received M.A. and PhD degrees in history from the University of California at Berkeley. She served as Director of the Latah County Historical Society from 1983 to 2006 where she was project manager and reviewer for several grants from the Idaho Humanities Council and the Institute for Library and Museum Services. She has worked with local museums through the Museum Initiative Program funded by the Idaho Governor’s Lewis and Clark Trail Committee and the Museum Partnership Program sponsored by the Idaho Historic Trust. As an active member of the Idaho Association of Museums, she has organized several workshops and conferences throughout the state. Other professional work includes surveys for the Idaho and Washington Historic Preservation Offices, consulting for the Heritage Policy Agenda for the Washington State Centennial Commission, and organizing celebrations and projects for Moscow and Latah County.

Florence K. Blanchard, Grants Consultant, has a B.A. in English Literature and American History from the University of California, Northridge. From 1983-1991 she served as Program Director for the College of Southern Idaho Extension Program, Hailey, Idaho, and 1996-2001 as Co-Director of the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. She was a founding member of the non-profit Ezra Pound Association. As a published freelance writer, her historical features have appeared in Sun Valley Magazine and other local media. In 2002 she completed the Foundation Center’s five-day Grantseeker Training Institute. She has written and directed several grant supported historical research projects including Centennial publications for the cities of Bellevue and Hailey, and since 2001 has served as grants consultant for numerous Idaho non-profit groups.

Keith Jones began working for Atwood-Hinzman, Inc. in 1979 as a design engineer responsible for the structural design of industrial, institutional and commercial projects. Project experience included structures utilizing concrete, steel, masonry and wood systems. Other experience included seismic analysis and design of equipment and piping supports. In 1985 Keith moved to Boise and became principal of Atwood-Hinzman-Jones, Inc., which is now AHJ Engineers, P.C. Keith directs all office activities, which include managing client relationships, business development, and technical services. The types of projects he manages are commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, residential, historical renovations and military facilities.

Keith received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological Institute and became a licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Idaho in 1989. Keith serves on the Boise City Building Code Board of Appeals and Boise State University Engineering Advisory Board and is a member of several professional affiliations related to the engineering field.
