St. James Episcopal Church was established in 1888 but burned in 1895 with only the organ and one stained glass window preserved. Bishop Talbot, the second Bishop of Idaho, donated $500 for the new brick church and lent another $750. The contractor was Probate Judge J.T. Sprague and the contract price was $1565. The church was the first house of worship in Elmore County. The church was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in November of 1977.
