The Grayson-Hyde outfit constructed the present building in the late 1800s to be used as a general store. A Swede named John Pierson and Jim Kelly, who was considered the best stonemason in the area, did the work. They built a saloon across the road at the same time. The workmen were paid three hours for a ten-hour day. By 1961, the building was no longer in use, and only the walls and roof were left. The owner at the time, Albert Black, donated the structure for a church. Volunteers cleaned the building and local donations made the church restoration possible.
