The Chief Theater opened in Pocatello in 1938 and was a memorable attraction for over 55 years. The community's concerted efforts to restore the theatre ended in a tragic fire that destroyed the building in 1993. However, the theater's icon marquee was salvaged and stored. The Historic Old Town Pocatello Foundation has restored the historic sign and it now stands at its former location as an iconic art piece reflecting the original building's art-deco style.
