Murray was once the center of placer-gold mining activity in the Coeur d’Alene Mining District. The Masonic Lodge, built in 1885, is a plain two-story frame building whose second floor Masonic Lodge is impressive for its unaltered appearance. The upper floor contains a lodge room equipped with historic records and furnishings from the heyday of the Lodge. All of the ritual materials, including the Bible, the lodge book of minutes, schools depicting Masonic degrees, hand-hewn alters and pedestals, are still in use.
