The Depot was the first commercial structure built in the company town of Potlatch. Investors led by Frederick Weyerhauser formed the Potlatch Lumber Company, and the largest white pine mill in the world was constructed in 1905. The move from the Midwest to Idaho introduced large-scale industrial lumber production into this state.
