The Lochsa Historic Ranger Station is located 49 miles east of Kooskia on U.S. Highway 12. Placed in the National Register of Historic Places and opened to the public in 1976, the site depicts life as it was at an early backcountry ranger station. The granger’s home, office, kitchen and tool rooms are still furnished as they were, with no electricity. Rangers and trail crews still live at the station during the summer. The pack string used of trail maintenance is kept in the corral.
