The Children’s Home Finding and Aid Society of North Idaho was established in Lewiston in 1912 as the first home for needy children in the northern part of the state. Kirtland Cutter, a major turn-of-the-century architect, designed the central building on the site; a Colonial Revival style house built as a residence for Harold Hurlbut, a Hollywood voice teacher. It was completed in 1906. Cutter designed several Colonial Revival houses, but the Hurlbut Mansion is the only one in Idaho. This project is in need a major funding to accomplish the renovation.
