The original collection, once held by the now defunct Sherwood Museum near Island Park, is in the collection of the Idaho State Historical Library and Archives. The Joseph Sherwood house, store and museum were located on the north shore of Henry’s Lake. The photograph collection includes glass plate negative, original prints, post cards and miscellaneous items. Most were taken prior to 1910. Joseph and Ann Sherwood arrived at Henry’s Lake in 1889. They were both avid photographers, documenting their own family but also scenic views of the Island Park areas, examples of their taxidermy, neighbors and activities such as skiing, fishing and boating. The Idaho State Historical Society produced new archival quality prints from the original glass plate negatives. Copies of these were also made available to the Island Park Historical Society and the Teton Flood Museum in Rexburg.
