The “Red Baron” Hangar, part of the Idaho Falls Airport Historic District, is historically significant as a rare surviving example of the pioneering era of aviation in the area. Built between 1930 and 1937, the airport in Idaho Falls served as an important link in connecting communities in the West. The Works Progress Administration built the superbly crafted log airplane hangar in 1936. The hangar, caretaker’s cabin, beacon tower and surrounding landscaped area are in the National Register of Historic Places.
