The house was designed by Campbell and Weyand and built in 1904 by Daniel Caswell, a former miner who later conducted a wholesale and retain paint business. Sheepman James Laidlaw purchased the residence in 1907 and the Laidlaw family occupied the home for the next fifty years. The late Gerry Laidlaw Little, wife of former Idaho State Senator David Little and mother of current Lieutenant Governor Brad Little, was born in the home. The building now houses the Idaho Community Foundation.
